’InterACTion’ is an intergenerational project for people of all ages and cultures focusing on older people, disabled people, children and youth based in Ponders End linked with the Ponders End Development Trust, Community Aid, Niburu, MIND, Age UK and the Women’s Centre.
This project has begun with ‘Fairshare’ funding but is time limited to July 2012.
The need was researched originally from finding out the statistics about the deprivation in the area from the observatory and consultation with local groups and people at events/festivals and meetings.
Now the project has begun, the need is even more evident with many isolated older people, disabled people, those with mental health issues, young people and people from different ethnic backgrounds getting involved and sharing their experiences.
It is important to keep this group going so that people now involved are not ‘dropped’ when the existing project ends and for new people to be able to join as the group gains momentum.
The group itself will be a valuable resource for Enfield as a role model of community cohesion as well as being a mouthpiece for the community, expressing their views through drama and the arts.
