Annie Smol (Artistic Director)

Inclusive theatre has been my passion from the late 80’s when I began this work at Chats Palace in Hackney having become aware of the exclusion of disabled people from the arts and society and inspired by the disabled artists and participants I was lucky enough to work with.

The creative challenge of developing innovative high quality work that is multi accessible is constantly exciting to me.

My ideal is to work with an excellent team of disabled and non disabled arts practitioners creating new theatre that entertains, challenges, moves and educates reaching out to new audiences whether that be young people in schools, or mixed audiences on a national tour.

At Face Front I have mainly focused on devising, directing, producing and workshop facilitation with a sprinkle of acting alongside project and company management.

Previous work has included a mixture of acting, directing, devising, cabaret, workshop facilitation and project management for companies such as Greenwich Young People’s Theatre, Watford Palace, Half Moon, Graeae Theatre Company, Chats Palace, Freshwater Theatre Co, Finchley and Royal Court YPT, London Bubble, Aspect Theatre Co, Art Start and Mix-Co.

Artistic Vision

We have developed a multi-accessible style of performance which is distinct and exciting.
